Meet Luis J. Gomez: Comedian Bio, Comedy Clips, and Tour Dates

If you’re a fan of comedy and comedy podcasts, you know who Luis J. Gomez is. He is truly a New York City comedy icon, who has gone from street kid to the man making the largest impact in the world of comedy and comedy podcasting. Luis came from nothing. He grew up in a bad part of New Jersey under atrocious and traumatic conditions. His father was murdered when he was a young child, and similar to Richard Pryor, his mother was a junkie prostitute. In his early twenties comedy stumbled into Gomez’s life as he began selling stand-up comedy tickets in Times Square. From here on out he embedded himself in the comedy community as far more than a comic, and has been transforming the entire world of comedy for over a decade.

Luis doesn’t hide who he is or where he comes from. He’s embraced it in a way that not only fuels his comedy but also his overall greatness. Luis will be the first to tell you he’s not the most naturally gifted comedian, but has worked incredibly hard at it and is now one of the funniest headliners in the world. He has a dark and offensive style of comedy, not afraid to say things many other comics won’t even if someone in the audience is offended. Being a great marketer and salesman, his current tour is on brand and named the Offend Everyone Tour with Aaron Berg to clearly prove this. His jokes are very funny and filled with dark and crude subjects, inappropriate observations, politically incorrect topics, and amazingly hilarious misdirection. In our opinion his special released in 2020 entitled “Luis J. Gomez Presents Luis J. Gomez” is without doubt one of the five funniest specials in the past few years. You can view the entire special free below.

Aside from being a hilariously talented comedian, Luis is also a legendary podcaster and pioneer in the space. While some may view this as outrageous, it is without doubt true that Luis J. Gomez has had an equal or more significant impact on the world of podcasting and comedy podcasts as Joe Rogan. He started Legion of Skanks with Big Jay Oakerson and Dave Smith over a decade ago, which has been one of the biggest comedy podcasts in the world the whole time. Legion of Skanks is known for being the most offensive and hilarious podcast in the world, and this goes without debate. Gomez has also hosted the Real Ass Podcast with his co-host Zac Amico for almost as long. RAP can be seen as an evolution of what the Joe Rogan Experience was when Rogan was doing it with his hilarious friends in his house without grasping how many people were listening. Luis has also been hosting an MMA podcast in some capacity for over a decade. He started with Hammerfisting with Dave Smith, then moved on to hosting Believe You Me with UFC legend Michael Bisping, and has recently started hosting Yo! MMA Wrap with Dave Smith in the past year. You can view clips from all of his podcasts below.

Aside from his comedic and broadcasting prowess, Luis is also a natural entrepreneur and salesman. As discussed above, his business and sales acumen is what originally got him into comedy. Gomez’s business-minded nature led to him also founding GaS Digital Network with Ralph Sutton. GaS Digital is the biggest and funniest comedy podcast network. Luis has not only elevated friends and girlfriends who are comedians through GaS Digital, but the entire east coast comedy scene as a whole. There are over twenty podcasts and thousands of hours of content on GaS Digital from most anyone on the east coast who is actually funny. He’s been involved with starting some of the biggest comedy podcasts in the world outside of his own like Are You Garbage?. We encourage those interested to check out GaS Digital’s website and subscribe to their network here.

You would think Luis would not have time to be making more of an impact in the comedy community, but that’s not the case. He is also the founder and organizer of the best and biggest comedy festival in the world, Skankfest. We recently wrote an article about Skankfest, but for those who don’t know Skankfest has been held for over a handful of years and is self-described as “the world's craziest comedy party”. Skankfest is filled with stand-up comedy, live podcasts, and various debaucherous events. They’ve had top-tier comedians perform over the years including Louis CK, Shane Gillis, Big Jay Oakerson, Jim Gaffigan, Mark Normand, and Bob Saget. 2022’s Skankfest is being held in Las Vegas and has virtually every talented comedian performing in some capacity. You can view a playlist of videos from the festival below.

We encourage comedy fans to support Luis J. Gomez if they aren’t already. Those interested can subscribe to his YouTube channel here. The best way to support Luis is to see him live.
