Since CrowdUltra is focused on connecting crowds to bring everyone closer together, they’ve formed the CrowdUltra Awards to celebrate the best of all things with a crowd. For those who don’t know, CrowdUltra is part free all-in-one event and audience interaction app, part ticketing platform, and part social network. The CrowdUltra Awards features over 100 categories among segments they provide value to including events, podcasting, event talent, and event planning.

After receiving over a thousand nominations, they narrowed down the top five science speaker nominees. These science speakers stood out among the rest and should be celebrated for the quality of their work. Those selected were determined by a mix of submitted nominations along with our expert panel’s assessment on a multitude of considerations including quality, community, and uniqueness. Frances Arnold
Description:
Frances Hamilton Arnold is an internationally recognized American scientist and engineer. In 1993, Arnold conducted the first directed evolution of enzymes, which are proteins that catalyze chemical reactions. The uses of her results include more environmentally friendly manufacturing of chemical substances, such as pharmaceuticals, and the production of renewable fuels. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018.




Garrett Reisman
Description:
Dr. Reisman was selected by NASA as a mission specialist astronaut in 1998. Dr. Reisman performed 3 spacewalks, operated the Space Station Robot Arm and was a flight engineer aboard the Space Shuttle. After leaving NASA in 2011, Dr. Reisman joined SpaceX where he worked for Elon Musk and prepared SpaceX for human spaceflight as the Director of Space Operations. Currently he is a Professor of Astronautical Engineering at USC and a Senior Advisor at SpaceX.




Marinos Sotiropoulos
Description:

Olympia LePoint
Description:
Hailed “The New Einstein” by her fans and named the “Modern Day Hidden Figure” by People Magazine, Olympia LePoint is an award-winning rocket scientist and author. Seen by 26 Million viewers on TV, and on News programs along with her TED talk "Reprogramming Your Brain to Overcome Fear", LePoint writes the Answers Unleashed science book series to inspire the next generation of global problem-solvers. As an internationally recognized scientist, LePoint helped launch NASA’s Endeavour, Discovery, Columbia, and Atlantis Space Shuttles, part of a career total of 28 Space Shuttle Launches. She won The 2004 Boeing Company Professional Excellence Award, and The 2003 National Engineer of the Year “Modern Day Technology Leader” Award.




Rudolph Tanzi
Description:
Dr. Rudolph E. Tanzi is the Vice-Chair of Neurology, Director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit, Co-Director of the Henry and Allison McCance Center for Brain Health, and Co-Director of the MassGeneral Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also serves as the Joseph P. and Rose F. Kennedy Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Dr. Tanzi’s groundbreakingly discovered the first Alzheimer’s disease (AD) gene, the amyloid precursor protein (APP) gene. Dr. Tanzi serves as Chair of the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund Research Leadership Group and numerous advisory and editorial boards.
